Denmark House is the heartbeat of Danish culture in Melbourne. Home to Victoria-based Danes and lovers of the culture alike, this Copenhagen-esque space provides a tangible link between Denmark and Australia that extends far beyond Lego, Hans Christian Andersen and Danish pastry. It's a place for members to connect with the local Danish community and likeminded people, as well as being an important hub for businesses with Danish-Australian interests. In turn, members and their guests enjoy regular exclusive events – from hosting iconic Danish designers right through to Scandinavian film nights.

Significance
The Danish Club "Dannebrog" was established in 1889 by a group of Danes who wanted to celebrate, preserve and share their culture and heritage. Today the Club consists of more than 300 Danish / Australian members, most of who live in the suburbs of Melbourne. The Danish Club at Little Bourke Street is an icon in Melbourne's traditional Club world and one of the oldest clubs in Victoria.

What’s Open?
Denmark House opened in June 2009 and is usually only open to its members (Danish and Australian) and their guests. On offer is a unique experience that encompasses modern Danish design, art, cinema, literature, music, cuisine and the like – each an important hallmark of Melbourne's own diverse cultural heritage. The space is decidedly contemporary and showcases the sophisticated sense of design – including select furniture pieces – which Denmark has long been revered for. Aesthetics aside, the atmosphere is warm, inviting and family friendly.
